This page is for the download of GIS and CAD data for use in a GIS or CAD program such as ArcView, ArcGIS, or Autocad.
To download GIS data (shapefiles and DXF) for use with ArcView, ArcGIS, Autocad, or other compatible software, please use the instructions and links below. Metadata is also available for these layers.
Instructions:
1. Click on the appropriate link below.
2. Find the file(s) that you need to download.
3. Right-click on the file and choose "Copy to folder" or "Save Link As..".
4. Copy the file to a convenient place on your computer.
5. Once the file is finished downloading, you will need to unzip it.

This data is in North Carolina State Plane Coordinate System, NAD 83, feet.
Metadata can be viewed in the Metadata folder - see the links above.
Shapefiles are a standard format for ESRI software products and require ArcView 3, ArcGIS, or ArcExplorer to view.
ArcGIS Explorer is a limited GIS viewing program that can be downloaded free of charge here.
DXF is an interchange format that can be used in Autocad and other CAD-type engineering software products.

Soils data can be acquired at USDA's GeoSpatial Data Gateway.
