October 28, 2015: Attention Henderson County Recyclers- please be sure that you never put medical needles of any kind in with your household recycling! These items can be safely recycled by citizens by following these easy steps:

  1) used needles can be placed inside an empty rigid plastic container, like a milk jug or detergent container

  2) replace the cap on the container, tape over securely

  3) label the container to name the contents with a permanent marker

  4) bring to the Convenience Center and find an attendant to safely recycle these items

Call Environmental Programs for additional information at (828) 694-6524. Thank you!

October 14, 2015: Please be sure that ALL used household batteries, including alkaline, coin, dry cell, lead acid, nickel-based, and lithium brought to the Convenience Center for recycling have the terminals taped over (using duct, electrical, or scotch tape). This is extremely important in lowering the risk for unintended fires. Leaky household batteries should be placed in a sealed, ziploc bag and can still be recycled at the Convenience Center.
